Looking out for each other

Unlike many others, we’ve been very fortunate at Yolo that our working patterns haven’t been disrupted as a consequence of the coronavirus because most of our team already work remotely – didn’t we use to call that agile working? However, I’m very conscious that things will clearly get tougher for us all but we should still be grateful for the things we have as it’s not an exaggeration to believe many will be struggling to survive over the coming weeks and months. As such, I have decided that whatever new campaigns we work on for the foreseeable future, we will now be donating a percentage of earnings across the following four charities who admirably help the vulnerable, especially so during these difficult times:

  • Age UK (https://www.ageuk.org.uk/) – Promoting the wellbeing of older people
  • FareShare (https://fareshare.org.uk/) – The UK’s national network of charitable food redistributors, made up of 17 independent organisations. They take good quality surplus food from right across the food industry and get it to almost 11,000 frontline charities and community groups.
  • Mind (https://www.mind.org.uk/) – Providing advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem.
  • New Hope (https://www.newhope.org.uk/) – New Hope exists to serve individuals who are homeless or vulnerably-housed through the provision of accommodation and opportunities to transform lives.

It’s easy to get swept away with the hysteria and ridiculous levels of panic buying in the supermarkets but now is the time when community spirit is strongest. This impacts everyone, look after those nearest and dearest to you and, if you’re able to, please do what you can to support others.
